The Principal at St Hilda’s Oxford. The first female Professor of Geotechnical Engineering in Western Europe and the first female Professor of Civil Engineering in Switzerland. Sarah excelled as a high-performance athlete, representing Great Britain and Northern Ireland in triathlon from 1984-1993. She competed in the 1990 Commonwealth Games in Auckland and won 21 European Triathlon Union Championships. In 1992 she was elected Vice-President of World Triathlon Union, serving until 1996.
